Write For Us

The more observant of you will have noticed that now and again we give up the 7 Reasons sofa to a guest. Our creatively named ‘Guest Post’ feature lets someone else impart their wisdom on the world. In the form of 7 Reasons. Which, incidentally, is how wisdom should always be imparted.

Now, in the beginning, this was intended as an outlet for burgeoning writers to get their work published. And, in the beginning, that’s exactly what happened. People wrote for us because they liked the concept and liked writing. However, as time passed, we got more popular. And as we got more popular people started seeing 7 Reasons as an opportunity to promote their company or their clients. Using links. As long as the writing was good we didn’t mind so much. Since those early days, though, we have been literally swamped with such posts. So much so that we’ve come up with an idea. And it goes something like this.

If you want to write for us because you love 7 Reasons and love writing, great. Send in your submissions and if they are good we’ll get them on the site.

If, on the other hand, you want to use 7 Reasons to promote your business or client to upwards of 30,000 readers a month, then this is the bit you need to read. We charge £50 per guest post. For that you can have one or two links in your article. It’s up to you. Either way it is £50. And you can be assured that the article and the links will remain on the site always. We also offer a loyalty scheme. If you come to us with four posts, we’ll publish your fifth free. Or you could get us to write a 7 Reasons post for you. Whichever route you choose, all we ask is that you try and meet the following requirements. If you don’t, there’s less chance we’ll publish you. Well, no chance actually.

1.  Style. It has got to be funny. It really has. Despite what some of you may think, 7 Reasons is a humour blog. Every day of every week we try and entertain by making our readers smile, titter and guffaw. Our Guest Posts are just as big a part of this pursuit as the articles we write ourselves. As such, if you are submitting an article to us, please make sure it’s at least mildly amusing.

2.  Content. As we’ve said, you can write about anything – within reason. We are a family site and thus adult humour isn’t really suitable.

3.  Language. On the most part, keep it clean. If you do want so say something naughty, just use your common sense.

4.  Links. We do allow links in guest posts either to the author’s personal pages or to sites that you are trying to link build for. If it’s the latter, we allow two links. We won’t link to online sex shops, porn sites or the official Big Brother website though.

5.  Length. We recommend no more than 800 words. That’s about 100 per reason with a bit left over if you want to write an intro.

6.  Subject. Is there a similar piece to the one you want to write on the site? Use the search box at the top of the page to find out. If there is, don’t write it. Come up with something new and fresh.

Please bear in mind that due to the number of submissions we receive we can’t use everyone’s work, but rest assured we do read them all. We also reserve the right to edit submissions where we see fit. This doesn’t mean we rewrite your post for you, it just means we correct spelling mistakes should there be any and tighten up the writing if we feel it will benefit the piece.
